Madison Street Corridor Urban Design Overlay District
The purpose of the Madison Street Corridor Urban Design Overlay District is to coordinate the physical improvements that will be made to this important corridor by both public and private entities. The goals of the Overlay District are to encourage a walkable and pedestrian-friendly environment within each of the center subdistricts and create a sense of enclosure so that drivers realize they are entering a unique place.
The District is made up of four centers (Walnut Hill/Liberty Parkway, Hilldale/Memorial Drive, Beachaven/Barksdale Elementary, and Richview Road) and three transition zones (Historic, Residential, and Highway). Each center focuses on the creation of walkable places.
